ELIZABETH ADAMS

As a coach, I've worked with individuals and teams from Higher Education, the third sector and private companies ranging from microbusinesses to multi-nationals. Coaching topics included leadership, career development, networking skills, work-life balance, collaboration and workplace relationships. I'm a member of the EMCC and adhere to their code of ethics.

I have over 15 years of experience working in career and professional development support, in Universities and as an external consultant. I've worked with several UK HEIs of all sizes over the past few years, supporting researcher development and culture, with the focus ranging from understanding departmental values, to institutional culture strategies, implementing narrative CVs and tackling bullying and harassment.

Whilst working at the University of Glasgow, I helped to establish its Lab for Academic Culture and delivered projects to understand and advance the institution's research culture, as well as influence national policy and practice. I can support research groups, departments and organisations to understand and reflect on their culture, values and priorities and develop an action plan for change.

I have a PhD in Chemistry and I'm a Chartered Manager. I'm also a bikepacker, cycling coach, fell-runner and wild swimmer. I bring my passion for adventure and experience of supporting others in their own adventures, to my coaching practice. This is what led to my business being named after the highest mountain in England. Like many career goals, Scafell can feel both a daunting and also inspiring challenge. As a coach, I start from the position that you have the potential to meet your own challenges, whatever they are. I am also a firm believer in time outdoors really contributing to wellbeing. So if one of your goals is better work life balance and more outside time, please get in touch for a chat.

I had the privilege of being coached by Elizabeth during a time of expansion and change for the charity I founded and run. She helped me develop skills and confidence to put new structures in place. I always felt listened to and understood and the way that she helped me develop my own thoughts towards action was both gentle and productive. The skills I developed through the coaching were part of what gave me, and the organisation, resilience to weather challenging times in the pandemic.
